Pool repair and pool services in Constantia
Constantia's large, green properties make for beautiful pools and some particular problems. We refer you to a pool contractor who covers Constantia.
Big trees, big gardens, heavy rain
Constantia lies in the valley below the back of Table Mountain and the Constantiaberg, and it is one of the wettest residential parts of Cape Town in winter. The rain feeds the valley's oaks, gums and pines, its vineyards and its streams, and it raises the water in the ground around pools.
Big trees bring a heavy load of leaves, especially in autumn. Leaves clog skimmers and pump baskets, stain marbelite, use up chlorine and, if they sink and rot, upset the water balance. Over many years, roots can find their way to pipes and lift paving. A pool under trees needs a stronger filter routine and closer attention to fittings.
Properties are large and pools can be some distance from the house and the pump room, with long pipe runs, water features and sometimes a separate pool house. More pipe means more joints, and more places a leak can hide.
Common pool jobs in Constantia
- Renovations and resurfacing of established pools.
- Leak detection on long pipe runs and water features.
- Filter and pump upgrades for heavy leaf load.
- Safety covers and nets, which also keep leaves out.
What to tell the contractor
Describe the trees near the pool, how far the pump room is from the pool, and any water features linked to the same system. Mention the driveway and access route if machinery or a materials truck will be needed.

Frequently asked questions
How do I cope with leaves in my Constantia pool?
A cover or net in autumn, regular basket emptying and a filter that suits the debris load all help. A service provider can set up a routine.
Can tree roots damage a pool?
Over time, roots can reach pipes and lift paving near the pool. Leak detection and an inspection will show whether roots are involved.
Do water features affect leak detection?
Yes. A water feature on the same system adds pipes and fittings. Tell the contractor so they can test each part.
