Pool repair and pool services in the Southern Suburbs
The Southern Suburbs have some of Cape Town's oldest and best-established gardens, and many pools that have been in the ground for decades. We refer you to a contractor who covers your suburb.
Older pools and big gardens
Rondebosch, Claremont, Newlands, Bishopscourt and Constantia are established suburbs. Many homes have pools that were built a long time ago, often in concrete with a marbelite finish, and some have been resurfaced several times. The shells are frequently still sound, but surfaces, coping, pipework and equipment have aged. Renovation and resurfacing are common jobs here.
Gardens are larger and greener than in much of the city. Oaks, pines and other big trees shade many pools, which keeps the water cooler and drops a heavy load of leaves in autumn. Roots can also reach pipes and paving over the years.
Rain under the mountain
The suburbs on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain receive much more rain in winter than the Northern Suburbs or the Cape Flats. Wet winters raise the groundwater, dilute pool water and put more pressure on drainage around the pool. They also make draining a pool for surface work a decision to time carefully: most contractors prefer to resurface in drier months.
Suburbs we cover
Enquiries from Newlands, Kenilworth, Wynberg, Bergvliet and Tokai are welcome too. Send your suburb and we will check cover.

Frequently asked questions
Is it worth renovating an old pool in Rondebosch or Claremont?
Often, yes. Many older shells are sound and only the surface, coping and equipment need work. A contractor can tell you after an inspection.
When is the best time to resurface in the Southern Suburbs?
In drier months, outside the wettest part of winter, and early enough to finish before the summer rush.
Who does the work?
An independent pool contractor who covers your suburb. We are a referral service and do not do the work ourselves.
