Pool leak detection in Table View
In Table View, a leaking pool rarely leaves a puddle. The sand swallows the water. A leak detection contractor finds the source before any paving comes up.
Why Table View leaks are hard to see
The ground under most of Table View is free-draining sand. When a skimmer joint or a return pipe starts to leak, the water soaks straight down rather than spreading across the lawn. Owners notice that they are topping up more often, and sometimes that a section of paving has dropped or a gap has opened under the coping. Both are signs that water has been carrying sand away for a while.
Relaying the paving without finding the leak only buys time. The same water keeps flowing, and the new paving settles again. Read more about local ground conditions on our Table View pool repair page.
How the contractor will test
Expect the test to start with a bucket test over a day or two, run once with the pump on and once with it off. If the pool loses more with the pump running, the pressure side of the plumbing is the first suspect. If it loses the same either way, attention turns to the shell and fittings, and a dye test along skimmers, lights and steps follows.
Because the water table can be high here, the contractor will want to avoid draining. Most testing is done with the pool full. If a fitting must be reached below the waterline, ask how they will manage groundwater before the level is lowered.
What changes the quote in Table View
We do not publish prices. The contractor quotes you directly once they know the pool.
- The number of pipe runs to be pressure tested, and how far the pump room is from the pool.
- Whether settled paving must be lifted to reach a buried joint.
- Groundwater, if a fitting below the waterline has to be exposed.
- Whether the repair is quoted together with the detection.
Before you send the enquiry
Note how many centimetres the level drops in 24 hours, with the pump on and off if you can. Take a photo of any settled paving. Then send us the details and we pass them to an independent contractor who covers Table View. See the main pool leak detection page for how testing works in general, or our guide to the signs your pool is leaking.
Frequently asked questions
My Table View paving has dropped next to the pool. Is that a leak?
It may be. Escaping water can wash sand from under paving. Test for a leak before relaying it, or the paving may settle again.
Will the contractor need to drain my pool?
Usually not for testing. Most leak tests are done with the pool full, which is safer where groundwater is high.
How long does a leak test take?
A bucket test needs a day or two of observation. Dye and pressure tests are done on site. The contractor will explain their sequence.
